The following is a contributing article from James Wynn, our Vice President of Development.
I came to Volunteers of America more than 18 years ago. I wanted to make a difference in my community and hopefully impact someone’s life in a positive way. I started out working the front desk at a men’s shelter in Camden, NJ. After many years and several promotions, I have become vice president of development, where I am in charge of building awareness and financial support for our Chesapeake affiliate.
When I started, I did not know Volunteers of America was a church. Now, I realize how important faith is in everything we do. It is faith that has brought me this far with an organization that anchors itself with religious principles. The unapologetic commitment to faith helps us to maintain integrity in both service delivery and fiduciary responsibility. We rely on faith to carry us through difficult times and working with people who face the most difficult challenges.
Please remember the thousands of men, women, and children we serve as we move forward in faith to continue this great work. This holiday season your support will help more people follow their faith.
