It’s the holiday season and after a busy, noisy, joyous celebration with four generations together, the house is quiet. In this holiday season we find ourselves filled with such a sense of gratitude and truly overwhelmed by so many blessings in our lives. Yet we are keenly aware that so many others in our community are hurting today after a Christmas Day that may well have been filled with pain, grief, loss, hunger, and lacking even a safe place to call home.
And so we respond to the call to give and give generously to Volunteers of America Chesapeake– an organization of people dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable in our community. Having served on the National Board for ten years, I have seen first hand the dedication of the staff who serve all their clients with love and compassion.
At the heart of our giving is our trust and confidence that VOAC will use our resources wisely and will truly make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Using our donor advised fund has been a wonderful way to maximize our donations while consistently giving VOAC the financial support they need for their life changing work. We give – and our joy in making that gift makes this special season complete.
