2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Good morning Chesapeake Family and welcome to another edition of Thank You Thursday! Today we’d like to thank one of our outstanding Board Members: Robert Scheer!

“Not only is Robert someone who gives cheerfully, but enthusiastically as well. He’s not only embraced our board campaign to raise $300,000 this year, but also volunteered to join our fundraising committee to frame how we generate resources to meet our mission!” said Chief Business Development Officer Rob Malone.

Stepping up to lead one of the most critical committees on our board, Mr. Scheer has shown a commitment to strengthening Volunteers of America Chesapeake from within. He and our entire board help us continue to work of helping our region’s most vulnerable get home.

“I believe in leading by example and I have to be able to put in the work as well as the dollars,” said Mr. Scheer. “I really believe in this organization and its mission and I believe with the right funding, stewardship and determination we can essentially eliminate homelessness in our area.”

Mr. Scheer joined our board earlier this year and our leadership team can already see the ripples of his impact extending throughout our programs and services. Through his network of partners and friends Mr. Scheer has introduced us to a number of new donors, raising more than $20,000 in support of homeless prevention and diversion programming, Veterans Services and housing options for those with disabilities. His company, Scheer Partners, continues to provide business and leadership advice on fundraising campaigns and strategic goals, helping us to grow and expand our capacity to care. In addition, Mr. Scheer shares his expertise to shape our organization’s real estate strategy.

We couldn’t be more thankful to have added such an enthusiastic and passionate member to our board this year. Thank you Mr. Scheer and Sheer Partners for answering the Call to Care and for being such a tremendous giver!
