Good morning Chesapeake Family and welcome to the 1st Wednesday’s Word of the season! If you’re new to the 5 Weeks of Giving, each Wednesday our staff of Commissioned Ministers will share a reflection on one of our 5 Core values …
Today’s reflection is on the first of our 5 Core Values and arguably the most important of the 5: CARING
It is brought to us by Pastor Rochelle Davis and Keep It Moving Empowerment Ministries
“Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40 (MSG)
Each day that we awake to a new day we are given many reasons to help those in need. A message that Jesus made crystal clear to us is that when we love them, we love him. Christ requires us to be caring and compassionate to those that we encounter, but more importantly He challenges us to be caring and kind to those who the worlds sees as “the least”. Those who have been ignored, rejected, left out, cast out, alone, and hurting. It is often difficult to show mercy to someone that we think doesn’t deserve it. But what a blessing it is to know that Jesus showed mercy to us when we didn’t deserve it. Jesus has called us to be His hands and feet. Sure we can show we care indirectly by giving money to organizations, but Christ is looking for some people who are willing to be “hands on” in their caring for others. Jesus always identified with “the least” of these, what about us? How can we demonstrate Gods love, care and compassion during this season of Thanksgiving? How we treat “the least” demonstrates our true relationship with the Christ who called us to love them.
Be Blessed,
Pastor Rochelle Davis
