Today we’d like to thank John Shooshan and

Mr. Shooshan is a friend to Volunteers of America Chesapeake and to the Arlington, VA community as a whole.

“John has been a wonderful partner to Volunteers of America Chesapeake and the numerous programs and resources we have to aid the homeless population, including the Hilda M. Barg Homeless Prevention Center, Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter, Loudoun Homeless Services Center and the Residential Program Center,” said President and CEO Russ Snyder. “He leads with his faith and is a true advocate for our neighbors in need. John is a donor to our organization’s flexible emergency fund for the homeless which provides assistance for security deposits or funds for individuals that may be behind on rent and could use a helping hand while transitioning into permanent housing.”

Last year, Mr. Shooshan established the 100k Homes Campaign Fund with a contribution of $500,000.00 and negotiated a match from Arlington County. Before these efforts Mr. Shooshan also established Arlington County’s Emergency Needs- Homeless Prevention Fund dedicated to providing rental assistance, food and services to county residents who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Because of Mr. Shooshan’s efforts we have been able to provide hundreds of Arlington County residents with addiction recovery and homeless services at our Residential Program Center.

These efforts also led us to partner with The Arlington Community Foundaiton to nominate Mr. Shooshan for The Association of Fundraising Professional’s Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year award, which he won!

We are so blessed to have support from individuals like Mr. Shooshan and we look forward to working together towards ending homelessness in Arlington!
