Ms. Kimberly Ferguson, a recruiter here at our admin office came up with a great way to increase donations for our Loudoun County Homeless Services Center while celebrating her birthday. She encouraged her friends to come and walk with her in our Run 4 The Homeless 5k held on November 10, 2012. By encouraging her friends to join her in this community service activity, Ms. Kim’s group raised over $500 to support the homeless services program that provides emergency shelter and transitional housing in the Loudoun County, VA area.
“It was my 40th Birthday,” said Ms. Kim when she sat down with us “what better time to give back than on the day I was born. I had a great time doing it and I raised funds for an organization I care about.”
Getting a group together to participate in a walk or make a donation pledge for an event is a great way to increase your capacity to donate. We’ve found that when we encourage our friends to join us in something we always make a larger impact than we can on our own.
