Thank you all for interacting with us on Facebook, Twitter and here on the blog. Did you know we’ve gone Mobile too? You can text VOAC to 80077 to join our Mobile Community. We’ll have poll questions, keep you updated on future events and get your feedback on our fundraising campaigns.

Today is Wednesday, so it’s time for Wednesday’s Word. Here at Volunteers of America Chesapeake we have 5 Core Values, the first of which is CARING.

Caring – to make provision or look out for

The Residential Program Center (RPC), located in Arlington County, Virginia, consists of two substance abuse programs; a 12-bed Detoxification unit and a 10-bed Early Recovery unit as well as a homeless shelter.  This program offers comprehensive wrap around services for individuals struggling with substance addictions.  Not only do we provide residential non-medical detoxification and rehabilitation services, we also provide shelter for individuals discharged from our program that do not have permanent housing.  At Volunteers of America Chesapeake we take a holistic approach to health and human services, looking out for our clients beyond the need they presented with.

RPC is an example of our Core Value in action. Caring is the first and arguably one of the most important of our 5 Core Values. The staff at RPC cares deeply for the residents of Arlington County helping to make Arlington one of only 15 communities nationwide to reach homelessness reduction rates.

98% of residents maintain sobriety throughout the Substance Abuse Program offered at RPC and more than 44% of residents in RPC’s homeless shelter are discharged into permanent housing. These wrap around services are successful because they care for the entire individual, addressing more than one cause of homelessness.

Our Residential Program Center routinely hosts tours for individuals and organizations in the Arlington, VA area who are interested in learning more about the services. Follow the link below to contact RPC for tour dates and times.
