On the 5 Weeks of Giving, Chesapeake gave to me…

Hey Readers!

As November comes to a close the ladies of Dev. Comm. are gearing up for our 5 Weeks of Giving Campaign!

This year our goal is to not only raise funds for our 31 Human Services Programs but the increase awareness and learn more about YOU!

Did you know that we moved over 1,000 adults from homelessness to permanent housing last year? Our Supportive Housing Programs currently provide housing and supportive services to more than 500 families, including over 250 children! Our programs are doing tremendous work each day and we’d like to talk about it! Here’s how:

Motivation Monday

Each Monday we’d like to share a quote with you that helps motivate us to get our week started off right. Join us here, on Facebook and on Twitter to receive the quote and join in the open discussion with us. Have you heard the quote before? Does it motivate you? Do you have one to share?

Text Tuesday

Here at VOAC we operate 31 human services programs throughout the Chesapeake Bay Area (Baltimore, MD to Virginia Beach, VA) each Tuesday we’d like to introduce you to our featured program of the day. You can text CARE to our VOAC call number to donate $5 to our featured program. Visit us here to learn more about the program’s services and staff. We operate in neighborhoods just like yours, we might even be neighbors!

Wednesday’s Word

Here at VOAC we have 5 Core Values: Caring, Respect, Faith, Quality and Trust. Join us each week to learn how we put those core values into practice. We’d also like to know how YOU put these values into action. What does Caring mean to you? How do you define Respect?

Thank You Thursday

We understand our organization doesn’t operate in a vacuum; we are able to care for over 11,000 of our neighbors most in need because of the passion and generosity of our staff, partners and donors. We want to thank them for all they do. Each Thursday we’ll highlight another person or organization that has answered the Call to Care. Perhaps it’s your employer, or even your favorite supermarket; join us here, on Twitter and Facebook to learn more about these organizations.

Fun Friday

What’s a campaign without some fun? Join us here each Friday to learn some fun and nontraditional ways to answer the Call to Care. Have you ever had a closet party? How about a fundraising birthday party? Our staff and volunteers are full of creative ways to increase donations and build awareness all while having some FUN at the same time. We’d love to hear your ideas and talk about how we can put them into practice!

So…It’s Saturday!

Saturday’s are one of our favorite days of the week. Here in the “ladies room” we often have discussions about our Saturday plans. They range from the mundane to the extravagant but they always seem to involve improving our health, home, family or community. We’d like to share some of these ideas with you and find out how you like to spend your Saturday. We’ll also share with you the reasons why we engage with Volunteers of America Chesapeake outside of our work day. We’re passionate about our organization and we’d like to tell you why.

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Did you know Volunteers of America Chesapeake is a Nondenominational Church? Our Ministry of Service is a key component to the success of our organization. Our Chaplain, Sandra Trice Gray shares inspirational tweets with our followers each Sunday – yup, our Chaplain tweets! Follow us @VOAChesapeake to be uplifted by her light and love. Visit us here on the blog to talk more about each week’s tweet and how you can put it into practice in your daily life.

So there it is in a nutshell, our 5 Weeks of Giving. We’re going to be busy! We kick off on Sunday December 2, 2012 and we look forward to connecting with you throughout the campaign. As always, let us know if you have any questions. Here’s how you can reach us:
