Our President & CEO Russell K. Snyder is one of the individuals that inspires the 4 of us each day. Like many of us, he came to the nonprofit world from the business world and brought with him the best things about business and through him we apply those things to Caring.
Below is a message of giving thanks he shared with our staff today:
Good Morning Volunteers of America Chesapeake Family,
As we begin this season of thanks, remember: a humble attitude of gratefulness refocuses our attention on the things that really matter in this life. When we have this mind set, our thoughts move away from anxiety to real contentment. The Apostle Paul knew this well. In Philippians 4:6-7 he writes ~“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving – let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
This season of Thanksgiving is a precious time to draw closer to the “One” that created us, as we reflect upon the blessings that flow into our lives from Him. It is a time to reflect on our blessings from God and give thanks for them. Psalms 92:1-2 tells us: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness at night.”
We the Executive Management Team, of Volunteers of America Chesapeake, take this opportunity to give thanks for our many blessings this year, in particular you, ~ the staff, clients, and volunteers. We’ve witnessed the sacrifices that our work demands. We have seen first hand how you go about your jobs, exhibiting dedication, capability, competence, and selflessness. You provide quiet service – faithfully, and skillfully; it is truly inspirational to witness. We are grateful for all of you, the Volunteers of America Chesapeake team – “Called to Care.”
So, at a time when we traditionally give thanks, allow me—on behalf of our Executive Management Team – to convey our thanks again for all that you do! It’s our prayer that you receive the blessings that come from a grateful heart.
Light and love with a heart filled with gratefulness,
Russ Snyder
